A works in a joint-venture company as an executive in China.His boss is an American named Steve.They are good friends.Once at a meeting with mostly Chinese participants including A,Steve did not hear much disagreement when arking for any suggestions on his new project.So he took it for granted that his new project would be quite satisfactory to everyone present at the meeting.But to his great surprise and puzzlement,after the meeting,A came to his office and told him that the project might not work properly.This time ,to A's surprise ,Steve didnot seem happy but even annoyed with this.

case two: 
Iris is an American and has married a Chinese scholar RenHua .They have a three-year old son Dave.One morningbefore breakfast,Iris kept asking Dave to choose between two different breakfast cereals and two different kinds of fruit juice.Dave was busy playing with a toy and did not hear her .Then RenHua told Iris that it isn't necessary or proper to ask a child to choose the breakfast,it's better just give him what she thinks is best for him .Iris was puzzled,and argued that a child should be given the right to choose.

case three: 
one evening ,the British teacher Margaret held a party.Unfortunately it wasn't very successful because she was upset by one of the guests.Here was the initial conversation between Margaret and LiangHong: 

M:(opens the door)Oh,Liang Hong,how nice you would come! 
L:It isn't difficult finding your house. 
M:Come on in. 
M:Can I take your coat? 
L:No thanks.
